Lab Orchestra Residency
The composer will visit a college campus or community, audition and work with indigenous musicians in building a large ensemble composition. Participating players will learn new techniques of improvisation, as well as ways to increase their perceptual skills. Pieces are created through traditional and modern notation, as well as an array of gestures and cues from the conductor. Musicians from diverse musical backgrounds are welcome to participate. At the end of the residency, the orchestra will perform to the community. In Israel, the United States and Europe, Horenstein has created over a dozen of such orchestras and residencies.
